Determination, spirit and the Senso P38 | Rachna Shah is a 9-year old girl living in the north-eastern part of India. Rachna has a profound hearing loss in both ears - doctors estimate that at least 90% of Rachna’s hearing is lost.
Determined, however, to achieve her personal goals despite her hearing loss, Rachna set out to complete a full recital of the ”Margam” – the classical dance routine with deep roots in the history of the region.
Scepticism and hesitation were amongst the first reactions when Rachna and her family approached the School of Classical Dance in the north-eastern city of Ahmedebad.
Through years of determined hard work, Rachna performed the classical dance in front of teachers, doctors and family in a beautiful display of colourful costumes and full control in tune with the traditions of the dance.
Rachna was fitted with hearing aids immediately after being diagnosed in 1994. After several unsuccessful fittings with conventional hearing aids, Rachna was fitted with a Widex Senso P-38.
The new sensations and the ability to lead an active social life gave Rachna the confidence to take on the demanding challenge of the ”Mangral” dance. Since that first fitting with the Senso P-38, Rachna has also utilised the MicroLink by Widex FM system.
Together, the Senso P-38 and the MicroLink by Widex have played an important role in bringing Rachna the joys of sound, music and dance….
