Widex encyclopedia

In our encyclopedia you can read more about sound and hearing, hearing loss, living with a hearing loss, hearing aids and other assistive listening devices.

A knowledge bank

The encyclopedia serves as a supplement to the website. It proves more detailed knowledge about selected subjects of the website.

On each page of the website, we have selected a number of such subjects or encyclopedia references (links), which we recommend that you read.

If you read about, for example, "Types of hearing loss" on the website, you can read more about the individual type of hearing loss, such as "Presbyacusis" and "Steeply sloping hearing losses" in the encyclopedia.

A dynamic and interactive encyclopedia

The entries in the encyclopedia may be accompanied by animations, video shots and other visual and graphic image material.

To get the full benefit of our encyclopedia we recommend that you download the latest version of Adobe Flash.

Using the encyclopedia

You can search for subjects in the encyclopedia in two different ways:

Alphabetically – by writing a word in the search field – the desired word will be marked in the index field, where you can choose it by clicking it, using the search button or pressing the ‘enter’ key on the keyboard.
Subject-related – if you wish to know more about, for example, ‘hearing aid’ you can write these words in the search field, and all the related subjects will be displayed in the search area in the left side of the encyclopedia.
