Today is one week and a day after receiving the new hearing aids. From the moment I received the hearing aids my life has changed.
I suddenly arrived at a world that I did not know existed, but had only heard about from stories. All of a sudden "it was clear" that I had heard the birds on Abbas street, and not only that I heard the birds sing, but in addition I distinguished between different types of bird chirpings!
When I got on the bus back to the train station I heard a couple, who were sitting behind me on the bus, speak in Russian, which was incredible for me, not that I understood the words. But I realized that this language has words! In short, there are many lovely stories from this past week.
The level of hearing speech has increased dramatically, even from further distances (which I never heard before!). There is absolutely a separation between "street" noise and the ability to hear "what people are talking about" at the same time.
For example, now I can follow a conversation that is taking place in the living room while I am in another room in the house. I had to get used to the difference between the soft noise in the new hearing aids and the very loud noise that was always accompanying the previous hearing aids. In this new situation the noise is not a problem at all, it "belongs" to the hearing itself.
Summing up, I can tell you that with the help of the new hearing aids, I, a 66 year old person, have gotten a new world, and for that many thanks!
